As we know that,

                                                      $40$=$4 \times side$

Shifting $4$ to the left side it becomes divisible to $40$, we get

                                                     $\frac{40}{4} =side$

Dividing $40$ by $4$ we get,

                                                  ∴  $side=10$ $m$

Therefore , side of square plot is $10 m$
