add the non parallel sides and subtract from the perimeter...by doing so we will get the sum of parallel sides

=72-(12+12)=72-24=48cm

now as the formula of trapezium is sum of parallel side divided by 2 and multiply by height

area of trapezium =(a+b)/2*h

=48/2*16

=384cm^2
