The perimeter of a right triangle is 12 + 8√3. The sum of the squares of the three sides is 294. What is the length of the hypotenuse?

Let the three sides of the triangle be denoted by x, y and z respectively with 'x' being the hypotenuse.

Now by using Pythagoras Theorm,

x^2 = y^2 + z^2

Also it is given that sum of square of three sides is 294.

x^2 + y^2 + z^2 = 294

x^2 + x^2 = 294 ( as x^2 = y^2 + z^2)

2x^2 = 294

x^2 = 147

x = √147

x = √49*3

x = 7√3

Hence the length of the hypotenuse is 7√3 units
