Hey !!

Length of Equal sides = 23/4 cm.

Let third side be X cm .

Perimeter of isosceles triangle = 18

2 × ( Equal sides ) + Third side = 18

2 × ( 23/4 ) + X = 18

23/2 + X = 18

23 + 2X = 36

2X = 36 - 23

X = 13/2 cm.

Third side = X = 13/2 cm.

Concept

An isosceles triangle is the one whose two sides are equal to each other. The perimeter of any triangle is equal to the sum of its 3 sides.

Given

an isosceles triangle with perimeter = 18 cm

and the length of its equal sides = 23/4 cm

Find

we need to find the length of the third side.

Solution

let the third side be x

perimeter of the given triangle will be-

23/4 + 23/4 + x = 18

46/4 + x = 18

x = 18 - (23/2)

x = (36 - 23)/ 2

x = 13/ 2

Thus, the length of the third side is 13/2 or 6.5 cm
