Let the equal sides of the isosceles triangle be of x measure.
therefore,base =2/3 X 2x [according to the given condition]

perimeter of a triangle=sum of all sides
42 = x+x+2/3 X 2x
42 = 2x+4x/3
42 =10x/3
126 =10x
therefore, x =12.6
therefore the equal sides measure 12.6cm each and the base measures 16.8cm
