Taking the triangle is ABC where AB and AC are the 2 equal sides and BC the base.
Let BC be 3 units and AB and AC be 2 units each.
Total perimeter: 3+2+2=7 units
length of each equal side = (42/7)×2 = 12 cm
Length of base = (42/7)×3 = 18 cm
height of triangle = sq root ((12^2)-((18/2)^2)) = root63
area of triangle = (1/2)×18×root63 = 9root63 = 71.4352854 = 71.4 (3sf)
