Let,

  • The the length of congurent sides of the isosceles triangle be x.
  • The length of base of isosceles triangle be y.

According to the first condition,

x+x+y = 30

2x+y = 30...........(i)

According to second condition,

x = y + 3

x - y = 3............(ii)

Solving equation (i) and (ii)

2x + \cancel{y} = 30

x - \cancel{y} = 3

\rule{60}{2}

⇛ 3x = 33

⇛ x = 11

By substituting the value of x = 11 in equation (i)

⇛ 2x + y = 30

⇛ 2(11) + y = 30

⇛ 22 + y = 30

⇛ y = 8
