Answer:

425 < 441

Step-by-step explanation:

perimeter of rectangle = 2 (l +b)

= 2(25 + 17)

= 2 x 42

= 84

Area of rectangle = lb

= 25 x 17

= 425

perimeter of square = 4 x (side)

84 = 4 x (side)

84/4 = (side)

21 = (side)

Area of square = (side)²

= 21²

= 441

425 < 441

So area of the square has more area

Given:-

•Perimeter of a square and rectangle are same

•Length of the rectangle=25cm

•Breadth of the rectangle=17cm

To find:-

•Which of the figures has a greater area and by how much.

Solution:-

We know that perimeter of a rectangle is:-

=>2(l+b)

=>2(25+17)

=>84cm

Thus,perimeter of the rectangle is 84cm.

Now,we know that perimeter of the rectangle and the square is same.

☆So,perimeter of the square is also 84cm.

Now,we know that perimeter of a square is-----

=>4×side

=>4×side=84

=>side=84/4

=>side=21cm

Area of the rectangle:-

=>Length×Breadth

=>(25×17)cm²

=>425cm²

Area of the square:-

=>(side)²

=>(21)²

=>441cm²

Thus,area of the square is more and by (441-425)=16cm².
