Given :-

  • Perimeter of a rectangle = 326cm
  • Length of the rectangle = 98cm

Aim :-

  • To find the breadth and area of the rectangle.

Formula to use :-

  • Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)
  • Area of a rectangle = Length × Breadth.

Perimeter :-

In order to find the breadth of the rectangle, let us substitute the given values in the equation.

  • Let Breadth be x

Forming the equation,

326 = 2(98+x)

Transposing 2 to the other side,

 \dfrac{326}{2}  =  98 + x

Reducing to the lowest terms,

 \implies \: 163 = 98 + x

Transposing 98,

 \implies \: 163 - 98 = x

 \implies65 = x

Hence breadth = 65cm

Verification :-

Before finding the area of the rectangle, let us verify the value of breadth by substituting it in the equation.

326 = 2(98+65)

326 = 2(163)

When multiplied the product is the same as the LHS (Left Hand Side),

LHS = RHS

Therefore Verified.

Area :-

 \sf{Area = Length \times Breadth}

Substituting the values,

 \sf{Area = 98 \times 65}

 \implies6370 {cm}^{2}

Therefore the area of the rectangle is 6370cm²

Some more formulas :-

  • Area of a triangle = ½ × Base × Height
  • Area of a square = (side)²
  • Area of a rectangle = Length × Breadth
  • Area of a parallelogram = Base × Height
  • Area of a rhombus = ½ × Diagonal 1 × Diagonal 2
  • Area of a trapezium = ½ × Height × (Sum of parallel sides)
