Answer:

Let the breadth be x

then length = 2x + 2 .

Perimeter = 40 cm

2(l + b) = 40 cm

2(2x + 2 + x) = 40 cm

2(3x + 2) = 40 cm

3x + 2 = 20 cm

3x = 18 cm

x = 6 cm

Therefore, the breadth = 6 cm

and length = 2(6) + 2 = 14 cm

Given :

The perimeter of rectangle is 40 cm. The length of the rectangle is more than double its breath by 2. Find the length and breath

How To Solve :

  • We are provided with the information that the perimeter is 40 cm. The length here is 2 times more than its breadth added with 2 more. After that we will use the formula for Perimeter and then put the variables and get the breadth from there we will get the length with that given clue.

Solution :

Let us assume :

The breadth of the rectangle be B

The length of the rectangle be L

According to the question :

Length is two times the breadth with 2 = 2B + 2

Formula for getting Perimeter of the rectangle :

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \star \:  \:  \purple{  \overline{ \underline{  \color{blue}{{\boxed{ \pink{ \frak{{ \sf P}erimeter  \: of  \: the \:  Rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)}}}}}}}}

By putting the values we get

  • Perimeter = 2(2B + 2 + B)

  • 40 cm = 2(3B + 2)

  • 40 cm = 6B + 4

  • 6B = 40 cm - 4 cm

  • 6B = 36 cm

  • B = 36/6 cm

  • B = 6 cm

Therefore, the breadth of the rectangle is 6 cm

Now, to get the Length by putting the values in 2B + 2

  • Length = 2B + 2

  • Length = 2 × 6 + 2

  • Length = 12 + 2

  • Length = 14 cm

Henceforth, the length of the rectangle is 14 cm
