let breadth of rectangle be x metre
then, length=5x-4
2(x+5x-4)=40
6x-4=20
6x=24
x=4=breadth
length=5(4)-4=16 units..

Let the breadth is =x cm
Then the length will be 5x-4 cm
Perimeter is =2(l+b)
=2{(5x-4)+x}
=2(6x-4) cm
So,
40m=40*100cm
There fore,
40*100=2(6x-4)
=40*100/2=6x-4
=40*50=6x-4
=2000=6x-4
=1996=6x
=1996/6=x
=332.67=x
So,breadth =332.67cm
=3.3267m
And, length=(3.3267*5)-4
=16.6335-4
=12.6335m
.....so,length is 12.63m & breadth is 3.32m.
