Answer:

Q.The perimeter of rectangular a room is 50 m . If the breadth 3 more and the length had been 2 m less , it would have been square . Find the area of room.

= Solution;

Let, length(l)= 'x'  breadth(b)= 'y'

1st Condition

Perimeter (P) = 2(l+b)

or, 50 = 2(x+y)

or, 50÷2 = x+y

or, 25 = x+y

or, 25-y = x

∴ x = 25-y

2nd Condition

length(l) = x - 2

breadth(b) = y + 3

It will form a square

∴ length (l)= breadth(b)

or, x - 2 = y + 3

or, 25-y-2 = y + 3  [ x = 25-y]

or, 23-y = y+3

or, 0 = y+3-23+y

or, 0 = 2y -20

or, 20 = 2y

or, 20÷2 = y

∴ y = 10

∴ x = 25 - y = 25 - 10 = 15

∴  Area(A) = l×b = x×y = 15×10 = 150 m². Ans.
