Question :-

The perimeter of the floor of a rectangle room is 17 m and its lenght is 5 m. Find the cost of flooring the room with square tiles of side 25 cm at the rate of rupee 850 per 100 tiles.

Answer :-

Floor Dimensions -

  • perimeter , p = 17 m = 1700 cm

  • length , l = 5 m = 500 cm

  • breadth , b = (p - 2l)/2 = (17 - 10)/2 = 3.5 m = 350 cm

Tile Dimensions -

  • side , a = 25 cm

___________________

Thus,

area of floor

= l × b

= 500 cm × 350 cm

= 105000 cm²

___________________

Now,

area of each tile

= a²

= ( 25 cm )²

= 625 cm²

___________________

Henceforth,

No. of Tiles required

= (area of floor) ÷ (area of 1 tile)

= (105000) ÷ (625)

= 4200 / 25

= 168 tiles

___________________

Hence, the number of tiles required are 168 tiles.
