length=(3x) and breadth = (x)

perimeter = 144m

P=2(l+b)

144=2(3x+x)

144=2*4x

144/2=4x

72=4x

72/4=x

18=x

Now,length=(3x)=(3*18)=54

breadth=(x)=18

Answer:

=> The length and the breadth are 54$m and 18m respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:-

A rectangle's length is three times its width.

The perimeter of the rectangle = 144 m.

To find:-

The length and the breadth of the rectangle.

Let,

The breadth of the rectangle be x.

The length of the rectangle be 3x

We know that,

The perimeter of the rectangle = 2(l + b)

Therefore,

=> 2(3x+x)=144

Distribute the terms,

=> 6x+2x=144

Combine like terms,

=> 8x=144

Divide both sides by 8, we get

=> x=18m

So, the sides of the rectangle are :

★ The length = 3x = 3 \times 18 $m = 54 m.

★ The breadth = x = 18 $m.
