l*b= 82 m
perimeter= 2*(l+b)
let the length be x
let the breadth be y
then,
x*y= 82
x= 82/y

then,
2*(x+y)= 400
2*(82/y+y)= 400

Answer:

breadth = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

given

perimeter of the rectangle = 82 metres

area of the rectangle = 400 metres²

perimeter of rectangle = 2 (length+breadth)

82 = 2(l+b)

41 = l+b----------(1)

area of rectangle = length × breadth

400 = l×b-------(2)

=(41-b)×b = 400

41b - b² = 400

b²-41b+400 = 0

solving this

breadth = 16

length = 25
