Answer: let breadth = x then,

length = x +10

BY qsn,

Perimeter of rectangle = 2( l+b)

or, 72 = 2( x+ 10+x)

or, 36 = 2x +10

or, 2x = 26

∴ x =13 m

So, breadth = 13 m

and length = 13 +10 = 23 m

Required Answer :

\red \bigstar \textsf{\textbf{Length of the rectangle = $23$m}}

\red \bigstar \textsf{\textbf{Breadth of the rectangle = $13$m}}

Given :

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 72 m
  • Length of the rectangle is 10 m more than the breadth

To find :

  • Length and breadth of the rectangle

Solution :

Let,

  • The breadth of the rectangle = x metre
  • The length of the rectangle = x + 10 metre

Formula of perimeter of rectangle :

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

where,

  • l denotes the length of the rectangle
  • b denotes the breadth of the rectangle

Substituting the given values :

⇒ 72 = 2(x + x + 10)

⇒ 72 = 2(2x + 10)

⇒ 72/2 = 2x + 10

⇒ 36 = 2x + 10

⇒ 36 - 10 = 2x

⇒ 26 = 2x

⇒ 26/2 = x

⇒ 13 = x

The value of x = 13

Substituting the value of x :

LENGTH :

⇒ Length of the rectangle = x + 10

⇒ Length of the rectangle = 13 + 10

Length of the rectangle = 23 m

BREADTH :

⇒ Breadth of the rectangle = x

Breadth of the rectangle = 13 m
