Let △ABC and △DEF be two similar triangles of perimeters P1 and P2 respectively.

 Also, let AB=12 cm, P1=30 cm and P2=20 cm.

 

Then,

 DEAB=EFBC=DFAC=P2P1  [∵ Ration of corresponding sides of similar triangles is equal to the ratio of their perimeters]

⇒  DEAB=P2P1

⇒   DE12=2030

⇒  DE=3012×20cm=8cm

Hence, the corresponding side of the second triangle is 8 cm
