Given

Breadth of the rectangular swimming pool ⇒ x

Length of the rectangular swimming pool ⇒ 2 + 2x

Perimeter of the rectangular swimming pool ⇒ 154 meters.

\rule{300}{1}

To find

The value of the length and breadth.

\rule{300}{1}

Solution

Perimeter of the rectangular swimming pool ⇒ 154 meters.

Perimeter of the rectangular ⇒ 2 (Length × Breadth)

2 (2 + 2x + x) = 154

2 (2 + 3x) = 154

2 + 3x = 154 ÷ 2

2 + 3x = 77

2 + 3x - 2 = 77 - 2

3x = 75

3x ÷ 3 = 75 ÷ 3

x = 25

So at the start we took Breadth as 'x' so the breadth would be ⇒ 25 metres.

Length would be ⇒ 2 + 2x

⇒ 2 + (2 × 25)

⇒ 2 + 50

⇒ 52 meters

∴ The required measures are ⇒

  • Length = 25 metres
  • Breadth = 52 metres

\rule{300}{1}

Correct Question

The perimeter of a a rectangle swimming pool is 154 metre its length is 2 metre more than twice its Breadth . What are the Length and the Breadth of the full pool.

To Find:-

The Length and the Breadth of the full pool.

Given:-

Perimeter of the rectangular pool = 154 m.

Length is 2m more than twice it's breadth.

Solution:-

step-by-step explanation:

Let the breadth of the rectangular pool be x .

Now, The length of the rectangular pool is

(2x + 2)m

We know that perimeter of a rectangle is

= 2 ( length + Breadth )

So,

= 2( 2x + 2 + x )

= 4x + 2 + 2x

= 6x + 4

By the question, we have to do

6x + 4 = 154

6x = 154 - 4 { by transposing 4 to R.H.S }

6x = 150

x = 25.

Required Answer

So,

Breadth = 25 m

Length = 25 × 2 + 2

= 50 + 2

= 52 m
