In 1817, James Mill, a Scottish economist and political philosopher, published a massive three-volume work, A History of British India. In this he divided India history into three periods Hindu, Muslim and British. This periodisation came to be widely accepted!

Answer:

The periodisation of Indian History given by James Mill came to be widely accepted.

Explanation:

The Scottish economist and historian gave this periodisation of Indian history in his three volume work- A history of British India, written in 1817. In this book, Mill periodised Indian history as Hindu, Muslim and British. But this periodisation had its own problems. Mill mainly focused on the religion of the emperor/ruler and completely ignored the common people.
