Gurukulam
A gurukula or gurukulam (Sanskrit: gurukula, romanized: gurukula) is a form of ancient Indian education system in which shishya ('students' or 'disciples') live near or in the same house as the guru. [1] The guru-shishya relationship is sacrosanct in Hinduism, and it may also exist in other Indian dharmas such as Jainism and Buddhism. (In the Sikh tradition, however, the term Guru has a very limited meaning and is rarely used to individual instructors, whereas the Gurdwara institution serves a large social function rather than a monastic one.) Gurukula is a Sanskrit term that combines the words guru ('teacher' or'master') and kula ('family' or 'home').
