The perpendicular distance of a point from the x-axis is 6 and that from y-axis is 2.

(i) What may be the co-ordinates of the point ?

(ii) Where will you find all points with negative abscissa and positive ordinate ?​

The perpendicular distance from y-axis to a point (x,y) is x-coordinate

So, ∣x∣ is the distance.

Similarly, the perpendicular distance from x-axis to a point (x,y) is y-coordinate

So, ∣y∣ is the distance.

We use absolute value as the coordinates may be negative and distance should be positive.

Hence, D is correct.
