Using Pythagoras theorem:

 {h}^{2}  =  {b}^{2}  +  {p}^{2}

  • h is hypotenuse
  • b is base
  • p is perpendicular

As given

h=15 cm, b= 12 cm

Therefore,

 {15}^{2}  =  {12}^{2}  +  {p}^{2}  \\

225 - 144 =  {p}^{2}  \\

81 =  {p}^{2} \\ \sqrt{81}  = p \\ 9 = p

Perpendicular height = 9 cm
