ANSWER

side of the hexagon= 6cm

length of the total hexagon= 12cm

breadth of the total hexagon= 8cm

height of the hexagon= 4 Cm

in first case

here we can break the hexagon into three piece one is rectangle and other two are triangle ( you don't have to write this)

area of a rectangle= length × breadth

= 8cm × 6 Cm ( here length= 8 cm and breadth= 6 Cm)

= 48 cm

area of triangle= 1/2× base× height

= 1/2×8×6 ( here base = 8cm and height = 6cm)

= 1/2×48

=24cm

area of the hexagon= area of rectangle+ area of two triangle

= 48 cm + 24 cm

= 72 cm

in second case

here we can break the hexagon into two trapezium ( you don't have to write this)

area of a trapezium= 1/2× height × (sum of two parallel sides)

area of 2 trapezium= 2×1/2× height × (sum of two parallel sides)

=2×1/2×4×(6+12)

=1/2×2×4×18

=1/2×144

=72 cm

So the area of the hexagon is 72 cm.

Hope it's right.
