The pH of 0.1 M solution of the following salts increases in
the order :
(a) NaCl < NH₄Cl < NaCN < HCl
(b) HCl < NH₄Cl < NaCl < NaCN
(c) NaCN < NH₄Cl < NaCl < HCl
(d) HCl < NaCl < NaCN < NH₄Cl

option b is correct
(b) HCl < NH₄Cl < NaCl < NaCN
we know that pH is the negative log of h+ concentration
so there is negative
we know h+ represents the acidic character
therefore the compound having more ph is more basic
in given things
- NaCl
- NH4Cl
- NaCN
- HCl
- we know HCl is the most acidic so it has least ph
then in remaining
- NaCl is formed by the strong base and strong acid so it has ph nearly equal to 7
- then NaCN is formed by strong base and weak acid so it is slightly basic then had ph greater than 7
- at last NH4Cl is formed by strong acid and weak base so it is slightly acidic it will have ph less than 7
hope it helps u,
