The salt is Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate. It is also known as Sodium Bi-Carbonate. Its common name is Baking Soda. Its chemical formula is NaHCO3.

It is prepared by the following chemical reactions

NaCl + H2O + CO2 + NH3=> NH4Cl + NaHCO3

It is used to:-

•Prepare Pakoras

•Neutralise acidity.
