THE EQUATION THAT WILL BE USED IS THE HENDERSON-HESSELBACH EQUATION.

pH=pka + LOG [BASE]/[ACID]

IN THE SYSTEM THE BASE IS CH3COO—

WHILE THE ACID IS CH3COOH.

• THE pKa OF ACETIC ACID IS 4.75.

4.50 = 4.75 + LOG [CH3COO—] / [CH3COOH]

4.50-4.75= LOG [CH3COO—] / [ CH3COOH]

-0. 25 = LOG [CH3COO—] / [CH3COOH]

[CH3COO] / [CH3COOH] = O. 56
