the pH of a soil A is 7.5while that of soil B is 4.5 . Which of the two soils A or B should be treated with powdered chalk to adjust it s pH & why??

Given :
Soil A with pH value= 7.5
Soil B with pH value= 4.5
Here Soil A is basic in nature and soil B is acidic in nature.
Thus, soil A should be used to treat with chalk powder which is basic in nature to neutralize and to make the soil more fertile.

Soil A has pH of 7.5

Soil B has pH of 4.5

Hence, soil A is basic in nature whereas soil B is acidic in nature

As we all know that chalk powder is basic in nature........ THEREFORE, to neutralize the effect Soil A should be treated with chalk powder to make the soil more fertile and fertile soil are always neutral.
