Baking soda has a variety of uses in industries. It's used in Baking Powder and also in:

  • Baking soda is used as antacids: Acidity in stomach is caused by excess secretion of HCl. Baking Soda is basic in nature. It reacts with the acid and neutralizes its effects. It's used in antacid medicine.

  • Baking soda is used in fire extinguisher : Fire extinguisher is in the form of a conical vessel. A strong solution of baking soda is taken in it. A glass ampoule having H2SO4 is also kept inside the container but with a knob. When required the knob can be hit and thus the ampoule gets broken.
