Given :-

PH value of A,B, C,D and E

To Find:-

Which Solution is weak acid , Neutral , Strongly alkaline , Weakly alkaline .

Now By the Definition in respect of PH values :-

What is PH ?

PH is pure number which has no units which is used for measure the strength of solution (acidic or basic) .PH scale has value 0 to 14 .

  • PH scale was discovered by \underline{\sf\dag\ \  Soren\  Sorenson }

  • The word PH is derived from the German word 'potenz' means power and H stands for concentration of Hydrogen ions \sf( H^+)

  • Solution having high concentration of hydrogen ions has Low PH value

\underline{\bigstar{\sf Netural :- }}

Neutral are those substance which is (neither acidic nor basic ) So it's PH is exactly 7

Example - water ,sugar solution , salt solution etc...

\underline{\bigstar{\sf Acidic :- }}

If the PH of the solution is less than 7 , it's considered as acidic solution .

  • More acidic solution has low PH

  • Less acidic have high PH

  • The solution having PH of 0,1,2 and 3 are considered as strong acids . where as 4,5,6 are considered as weak acid .

\underline{\bigstar{\sf Bases\ \ (alkali)  :- }}

The solution whose PH is greater than 7 is considered as basic or (alkaline ) . We can also called it as (alkali)

  • More basics solution has higher PH

  • Less basics have Lower PH

  • The solution having PH 11 ,12 ,13 and 14 are considered as strong base where as 8,9,10 are considered as weak base

\underline{\bigstar{\it{\  Questions :- }}}

PH of , A= 1 , B=5 , C=7 , D= 11 and E=13 .

A :- PH if A is 1 which is strong acid .( PH between (0 and 3)

B :- PH of B= 5 weak acid ( PH between 4 and 6)

C :- PH of C= 7 Neutral (PH exactly 7)

D :- PH of D=11 strong alkaline (strong base ) PH between (11 and 14)

E :- PH of E= 13 Strong alkaline ( strong base )
