Title - The title of the poem is 'The Pilgrim' written by an Anonymous poet.

Tone - The tone of the poem is Serious and thought provoking.

Structure and stanzas - Structure of the stanzas are of unequal length. First stanza is of 7 lines, second stanza is of 6 lines and third stanza is of 8 lines.

Rhyme Scheme - 1st stanza – AABCCBB; 2nd stanza – ddaabb; 3rd stanza - eeaaffcc.

Figures of Speech - The poem is entirely metaphorical. Figures of Speech used in this poem are inversion, tautology, personification and interrogation.

theme /central idea - The main theme of the poem is that one has to be unselfish and help others in life. Those who

are experienced, successful and have achieved many things in life must help those who are unexperienced

and struggling in life. The poet is trying to convey that one should always think of the benefit of others even

if it doesn’t benefit us.
