The pine borer beetle is a parasite to the pine tree. What would most likely happen to the pine tree population if the beetle population decreased?

I think the population of pine tree doesn't change because beetle is just a parasite...

Obviously, pine trees will start to grow in more numbers, due to the extinction of the pine borer beetle. There will be a lot of excess trees and it will take more space, but on the positive hand there will be a lot greenery!
