EXPLANATION:

Congress President Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the official flag of India on 31 December 1929 in Lahore. Congress appealed to the people of India to celebrate 26th January as Independence Day.

On this day, congress workers, nationalists and general public hoisted national flag across the country. Nehru had said- "Our goal is to get independence only. For us freedom means complete independence."
