no aplant cell can not contract when placed in hypotonic solution
it swells up.

garima8000: in hypotonic solution amount of water is high. in osmosis water moves from its higher concentration to its lower concentration that is from outside into the cell

No. The cells becomes turgid when kept in hypotonic solution.

As the water or solvent moves from inside to outside the cell.
