Take Joan’s pocket money as x
Joyce’s pocket money =8x
Joan’s pocket money= 20+8x
20+8x:8x = 10:8
Then cross multiply,
(20+8x)8= 160+64x
(8x)10= 80x
160+64x = 80x
64x+160=80x
64x-80x= -160
(64-80)x = -16x
-16x= -160
x= -160/-16 = 10
Therefore, x=10
