The poet in the poem photograph depicts about “transience of human life”. Many years later when the poet grew up, she and her mother would laugh at her mother's childhood photograph.

After few more years, her mother died and she had still preserved that photograph seeing which she missed her mother a lot and her mother's laughter. Hence, time of human life passes by so fast that only memories remain and we think that the incident just took place before some time ago.
