In this poem, Shakespeare has described a reality. This world is truly like a stage. Every man comes on this stage, plays his part in many different roles, and then leaves it with his death. That a man has to die doesn't mean that his life is futile. That a player has to leave the stage after playing his role doesn't mean that playing the role is useless. It all depends upon how the role has been played and how the life has been lived.
