The poet has a great reverence for the sower. This can be seen by the way he observes the sower.

He states that the working hours have come to an end, yet the sower works very hard in getting his job done. The poet calls the sower 'An August Personality'. This means that the sower is someone who reached his highest rank in his workplace.

He clearly explains and describes the hard work of the sower and his mind on the work.

The poet praises the sower for his efforts and compares him to a God-like figure.

EXPLANATION:

The poem, ‘The Sower’ by the great French writer Victor Hugo is a eulogy to the farmer who sows his seeds with dedication. The poem is a tribute to all the hard working farmers who toil from dawn to dusk ignoring their personal health and happiness.

The picture the poet draws for us through the poem expresses his deep respect for the farmer who goes about his work irrespective of time and his surroundings. The farmer appears to project that work is worship. The poet also tries to illumine the Biblical Proverb, ‘As you sow so you reap’. The farmer will reap a good harvest as a reward for his dedicated hard and long hours of work.
