Given:

The point P(2,3)is reflected in the line x=4 to the point P'.

To find:

Coordinates of the point P' = ( x' , y' )

Solution:

Since P is reflected with line x = 4 ,

  • Distance of P' from x = 4 = Distance of P from x = 4
  • DIstance of P' = |x' - 4|
  • Distance of P ( 2, 3) from x = 4 = 4 - 2 = 2

Therefore,

  • x' - 4 = 2
  • x' = 6

Since x = 4 is perpendicular to y =3 , y coordinate remains the same.

Hence P' is ( 6, 3)
