the x co-ordinate of a point its distance from the Y-axis and y co-ordinate is its from the x-axis.

The point of intersection of the line parallel to Y-axis at a distances 3 units from it to its left and the line parallel to X-axis at a distance 2 units below it is (−3,−2). The equation of the parallel to Y-axis at a distance 3 units from it to its left is x=−3.
