Option a - (2,0)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The point P on x-axis equidistant from the points  A(-1,0) and B(5,0).

To find : What is the point ?

Solution :

As the point is on x-axis the y-coordinate is zero i.e. P=(x,0)

Now, Point P is equidistant from A(-1,0) and B(5,0) so distance is same.

i.e. AP=PB

Applying distance formula, d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y-1)^2}

\sqrt{(x-(-1))^2+(0-0)^2}=\sqrt{(5-x)^2+(0-0)^2}

\sqrt{(x+1)^2}=\sqrt{(5-x)^2}

x+1=5-x

2x=4

x=2

Therefore, the point is P=(2,0).

So, Option a is correct.
