The point R divides the line segment AB,where A(-4,0) and B(0,6) such that AR=3/4 AB. Find the coordiantes of R.

AB/AR = 4/3

Substracting 1 both sides, we get

(AB - AR)/AR = (4 - 3)/3

BR/AR = 1/3

i.e R divide AB internally in 3:1.

Coordinate of R is

( \frac{3 \times 0 + 1 \times ( - 4)}{3 + 1} \:  . \:   \frac{3 \times 6 + 1 \times 0}{3 + 1} ) = ( - 1 \: . \:  \frac{18}{4} ) = ( - 1 \:  \: and \:  \frac{9}{2} )

so R( -1 , 9/2) Ans.
