1. In reporting questions interrogative sentences the following rules are adhered to:
i) The verb ask or demand or inquire must be employed as the reporting verb instead of the verb to say.
ii) The interrogative form must be changed into the Assertive Form .The sentence must end with full stop and not with question mark.
iii) When reporting verb is in past tenses , sentence inside the quotation mark must be changed into corresponding past tense of that of direct speech.( In the given example present continuous tense is changed into past continuous tense)
iv) Pronoun in Indirect object from of direct speech gets changed to Direct object form.( to us is changed to us in the given example )
v) The conjunction ‘that’ is not used. if the question begins with an Interrogative Pronoun or Adverb, as who, which, what, whom, whose, when, where, why now, etc., the same word begins the Indirect Form,
