Answer:

Mandela was a wise man, he lived a difficult life, but he managed to rise above all the bad that seemed to haunt him. I connect with Mandela in many ways. But don’t get me wrong, we’re nothing alike. This quote might have been directed towards the house of Congress in 1989 but I feel like someone is saying it to me every time I let fear win over me. Most of the time we feel like we’re so different from everyone just because we don’ have things in common, but we’re wrong. I’ll give my example with this Nelson Mandela quote.

Mandela starts this touching quote by saying “ I learned that..” for me, this is the most important part of the quote. It means he’s not just saying words to speak for a long time, but he’s using his life experience to teach us something.

I’m scared all the time. I’m afraid to live life at its fullest, and I’m scared of everyone around me for the sole reason of not wanting to get hurt. This might sound silly but believe you’re not so different; fear stops you a lot of the time. Yesterday I was at this really cool action park that has foam cubes everywhere, and they’re there, so you don’t get hurt when you fall from the really hard obstacle courses they have. This got me thinking because I would never attempt to do any of the things I did yesterday if it wasn’t for those foam cubes.

In real life, the obstacle course is living, and the foam cubes that take the fall for you is your strength. If you’re brave enough to live and fall the foam cubes will be there to save you.
