The policy of majoritarianism in Sri Lanka has not been accepted by the common people because all such measures made by government disregarded the people and their interests. It bred the feelings of alienation among the Tamils and created distrust and suspicion among Tamil and Sinhalese communities. None of the Government policies gave common people equal political rights and were discriminatory in nature.
