Let p(x)=ax3+3x2-13
q(x)=2x3-5x+a
When p(x) and q(x) are divided by (x-2) they leave a same remainder R
p(2)=R
a(2)3+3(2)2-13=R
8a+12-13=R
8a-1=R ....(1)
q(2)=R
2(2)3-5(2)+a=R
16-10+a=R
6+a=R ...(2)
Equating 1 and 2
8a-1=6+a
7a=7
a=1
q(x)=2x3-5x+a
When p(x) and q(x) are divided by (x-2) they leave a same remainder R
p(2)=R
a(2)3+3(2)2-13=R
8a+12-13=R
8a-1=R ....(1)
q(2)=R
2(2)3-5(2)+a=R
16-10+a=R
6+a=R ...(2)
Equating 1 and 2
8a-1=6+a
7a=7
a=1
