This line was taken from the poem a little grain of gold written by rabindranath tagore. It is the 50th poem in gitanjali. This a parable about love and generosity.

The narrator of the poem is a beggar who depends on other people to live. One day when he was walking on a road he saw a golden chariot approaching towards him .The beggar jumped out of happiness that the king must be very rich and would give him gold or money.But when the chariot approached the king asked beggar to give him something.Hearing this the beggar out of sadness gave him the smallest piece of corn he could find in his bag. later in the evening when he opened the bag he saw a small piece of gold.Realizing that the king was none other than the god himself he wept bitterly.
