Answer:

Let intial population of town = 100

In first year it increases by 20% i.e it becomes

120. Next year it decreased by 10% i.e

10% of 120 = 12

Therefore population by the end of 2nd year

= 120 - 12 = 108

Increase in population after two years

= 108 - 100 = 8 or 8% Ans

Answer:

For finding out the answer , just take a number as an example in these kind of questions. For eg : 100 people

10% Increase :

So 10 × 100 (cancel 100 and 100) = 10 people.

    100

So 10% increase equals 10 + 100 = 110 people

Then 20% decrease

20 × 110 (cancel everything possible) = 22 people

100

So 20% decrease = 110 - 22 = 88 people

So decrease from first population = 100 - 88 = 12 people

Percent (if you need it) = 12 × 100 = 12% decrease

                                       100

Hope this helps :)
