The population of a city in a particular year has increased by
15% as compared to the previous year. Next year it gets
decreased by 10%. Find the net increase or decrease percent
on the initial population.​

Given is that the population of city increased by 15% compared to the previous year

Next year it gets decreased by 10%

To find :-

Decrease and increase in the intial population

The population of Year x is lets say 100%

and 15% increased hence ,

100+15= 115%

Now percentage of increase in Year x

= Amount of increase

___________________ × 100

Original amount

= 15/100 × 100

= 15 %

Decrease percent

= 115 - 10 = 105%

Now

105/115 × 100

= 84%
