The population of a city was 6000 and it increased to 7400. If the increase % of males and females is 20% and 30%, find the initial number of females. (solve it with single variable) If not possible solve it with steps. ​

Answer:

Initial Population - 6000

Final Population - 7400

Increase - 7400 - 6000 = 1400

Now, % of females increased is 30 %.

Initial number of females =

 \frac{30}{100}  \times 1400 \\  \\  = 30 \times 14 = 420
