The population of a small city is 926100. If it increases at the rate of 5% per annum. What was the population 2 years ago?

Answer will be- 2)-840000.

Assume the population of the city 2 years ago was X.

Then after 1 year the population will be- X+( X*5/100)= 21X/100

Again at the end of second year the population is - (21X/20)+ {(21X/20)*(5/100)} =441X/400

Eventually this no equals to 926100; i.e 441X/400=926100

Then X= (926100*400)/441=840000..
